With our cookout, Kimudo test, judo test, and the Nick Delpopolo seminar on the horizon, we have a busy summer coming up, and want to make sure everyone stays up to day.
Outdoor Test and Cookout

Thursday is your LAST CHANCE to sign up for our annual outdoor test and cookout at Booth Lake Memorial Park! Miss Amanda and I provide the meat and main accompaniments for the taco bar. It is up to you to bring sides for about 10 people. You certainly do NOT need to feed the entire school.
On Saturday, this event will be held at Booth Lake Memorial Park, barring any weather emergencies. If we expect incliment weather, we will email you.

Judo Test – August 12

Over the next 2 weeks, we will be making determinations over who is ready to test in judo. If you want to test, I highly recommend coming to class and showing us that you know your stuff. For those of you who do not feel ready, the next test will be in early December. There is absolutely no shame in waiting.
Limited Hours 7/26 through 8/2
Master Nick and I are going to US Judo Open and will be out of town July 24-Aug 2. We will be doing our best to get belts out to everyone before we leave, but some of you may be getting them from Master Jodi, Master Deb, or Junior Master Amber. They are all great instructors and it means every bit as much if they tie that belt around your waist. Miss Amanda would like to add that these were her testers and instructors many times, and they really know their stuff.
While we are gone, please give those tasked with instruction at least as much respect as you give us. These are not only our teachers, but our friends, and we want to hear a good report when we come back.
The most notable change is that there will be NO 4:14 class while we are out of town.

Seminar Training with former Olympian Nick Delpopolo

We are so excited to announce that the Elkhorn Martial arts center is hosting 2-time Team USA Olympian, Nick Delpopolo. It is not often that a small-town dojo can pull together the resources to train with international talent, and with Mr. Delpopolo’s training and competition schedule, we cannot guarantee this rare opportunity will ever happen again.
The ultimate test of a Judoka’s technique is if they can perform it on an unwilling and uncooperative partner. As such, competition plays a large part in any Judoka’s training. Mr. Delpopolo will be coming here to show us techniques and tricks used at the highest levels of the sport, allowing you to hone your technique, and deal with the latest trends in tournament competition.
Sign up for our seminar here!
But that’s not our only reason to be excited.
Our judo program is currently larger than it has been at any time in recent memory, and speaking with Masters Jerry and Josh Cypert, this puts us in the running for one of the most active judo programs in the state. Certainly, the most active outside side the major cities! We are very proud at the growth the program has shown since the early days of the pandemic – proper judo technique is simply not compatible with social distancing, and the growth of the program since then has been nothing short of inspiring.
Thank you so much for making this possible.
